Trouble importing Blender models
I'm having some trouble importing Blender models. The same mesh in Blender and 3DS Max produces 2 different results once Unity imports them. Below is an image that shows the import difference. Basically Blender seems to add an extra transform. Both of these meshes are just the simplest of cubes. The Max file is a .FBX and the Blender file is a .blender in this case. But I've tried a but of different formats from both and always get the same results.
Is there something special I have to do to get Blender models to import the same way Max models do?
I thought you had to export from blender as FBX...at least thats the way I do it. Goto Export, as FBX, and make sure your y axis is set to z (or vica versa, I don't have the blender menus memorized).
Unity will read blender files as-is, but it does make different results. I use FBX only as a last resort because I don't care for Autodesk's autocracy over the format. Just a political statement on my part. DAE, 3DS also work.
