Question by JonWag · Aug 03, 2013 at 07:55 PM · fpstutorialbox collider

When I apply a box collider to a model the box collider appears to be next to the model instead od on it. Why is this?

I am doing a tutorial on a first person shooter game. The enemies are model dummies i made with blender. When i apply the box collider i can still run right through it but the box collider stops me to the left of the dummy. How do I fix this?!

You can adjust the position and size of the box collider. Select the object in the inspector, then adjust the Center and Size parameters to match your model. You can do this is Scene view or if Gizmos are turned on in Game view, it can be done done in Game View.

But the fact they don't align is an indication that your pivot point for your model may be at some place other than the center of the model. So you may want to verify the position of your pivot point.

The pivot point is the local center of an object. If you were to set the an object at (0,0,0), it would be the point of the object that would at that specific location.

The issue of pivot point and Blender comes across the list fairly frequently. Here is a video tutorial and another link on the issue. There are many more posts:

There are also scripts to move the pivot inside the Unity:
