how do i make a character from scratch

im trying to make a character for my unity fps game but i dont know where to start. i dont just want somewhere to go i need to know how to actually make the character so if someone could please help with that, that would be great, thanks.

If your making a game, your going to want to use a 3D modeler for all/most the models you make Probably want to learn how to use blender:
