Get converted normalmap texture?
I have a grey texture that I set to 'convert to normal map' in texture import settings.
I want to get that 'normalized' texture and encode it to PNG.
When I get the image via EncodeToPNG, it gives me the original gray image. Can I get the converted image somehow?
Convert to normal map doesn't convert it to a normal map, it imports it as a normal map.
@Gizmoi: no, it converts a grayscale image to a normalmap.
Actually, I don't even have a 'Convert to normal map' option. To which option are you referring?
It's in the texture importer, called "create from grayscale" now in Unity 4.
Ah, I see, my bad.
Perhaps you could try simply creating the normal map outside of Unity? Using standalone software. Crazybump, for example?

Try duplicating the texture and setting the new texture type to normal map. Or, you could try bitmap to material lite (free).
I'll try the first one. Bitmap to material, that's a plugin?
