MissingMethodException - Unity 3.5.7 - Windows 8

Hello! I'm using Unity 3.5.7 (I need this version because I want learn Unity with Lynda courses). And I recieve an error with an empty project. "Missing Method Exception: Cannot find the request method". I have Windows 8 64bit.

I read this warning:

Your 64 bit Windows installation is missing an important service pack patch. Please apply http://support.microsoft.com/kb/976038 to ensure stability.

But there is the solution for Windows 7 and Vista only. Can I do anything without install of windows 7?

Thanks a lot, and sorry for my bad english. (It's still difficult for me to write, but I understand very good)

You can safely ignore that warning on Win8. A future release of Unity will not report this.
