I am using Personal but there is "Trial Version" water mark after build
I have only Person version of Unity, and in Unity, the title clearly says that I am using Unity 2018.2.17f1 Personal. I have never purchased Plus or Pro, but I am getting "trial version" water mark at the lower right corner of the screen. I have tried to delete the license file in the ProgramData folder, but it doesn't work. Can anyone save me right now!
what is the exact water mark you are getting? i am using unity 2017 4.8 personal edition but i get nothing like that. if someone checked development build then there is a water mark of "development build" in lower right corner.
I am getting "trial version" water mark at the lower right corner. But I am using Personal... It seems like many another Personal users are having the same issue right now.
I'm having the same issue. $$anonymous$$y game was supposed to be published today and now it's stuck...
[EDIT] This solution is just a temporary fix, the watermark will appear again one day after. Thank you guys! $$anonymous$$y problem has been solved!!! I followed tk2l's answer in lauhonyeung's thread. 1. Open the $$anonymous$$anage License in the Help menu.
2.Save License Request is saved locally.
Open https://license.unity3d.com/manual website, upload the saved Unity_v2018.2.18f1.alf file, and generate a new license. After downloading, use this menu again to load the license, restart the unity watermark. . Note that you must restart unity after activation.
No, today I built my project, the watermark appeared again! $$anonymous$$y problem wasn't actually fixed. tk2l's answer is just a temporary fix. So I have to manually activate my license everyday, Unity really should explain what happened.
@better_walk_away Have you tried reinstalling Unity?
Yes, I did try to reinstall Unity, but it didn't work if I don't activate the license manually. I manually activated the license one more time yesterday, the watermark was gone, but I wasn't sure if the watermark would reappear again. So I will give it one more chance, if the watermark reappears for the second time, I will buy Plus right away. I have tried to contact the support, although I received the reply from the support the day before yesterday, I replied to them, but I am still waiting their second reply.
Same problem here. Using Unity 2018.2.18f1 to generate Android game. There is a 'trial version' watermark on the lower right corner for the App.
I am using an activated personal version on Windows 10 as a hobbyist. The issues persists after manually re-activated Unity.
I think 'personal version' or 'indie version' is more appropriate If they insist on distinguishing between professional / plus version and personal version.
It would be the best if there is an official solution to bring the situation back to usual! Thanks. ,Same problem here. Unity generated Android game show a 'trial version' watermark on the lower right corner.
I am using an activated personal version Unity 2018.2.18f1 as a hobbyist only. $$anonymous$$anually reactivated does not help at all.
The same problem persists. I guess if they want to distinguish a professional/plus version and personal version output, a watermark of 'personal version' or 'indie version' is more appropriate, if they insist.
If there is solution to bring this back to usual, that will be nice! Thanks.

Hello everyone, I just found the true solution to this. It's all because of China. There are too many cracked version of Unity in China. My best guess is that Unity is targeting Chinese ip and putting watermark on Chinese users. And probably because Unity considers Taiwan as part of China, so Taiwanese users also get the watermark. So I use VPN and change my ip to a United States' ip. And then manually activate the license, restart Unity, the watermark disappears after building the game. If you are having this issue, you are probably a Chinese or Taiwanese user.
Although I was able to remove the watermark, I had decided to purchase Unity Plus. If Unity wants to protect their rights by using watermark, I shouldn't do this. So I just went ahead and purchased Plus, Unity has helped me a lot, they deserve the money.
I would like to buy a plus as well, although I don't have to.
But this policy is only affect those users who follow the rules in china. Others using crack version are as usual.
Although I am not from China, Taiwan, Hong Kong etc, I am also facing this issue. It really is quite irritating and I don't understand why it occurs to me as well...
Cracked version don't have the water mark. so they were encouraging people to use the cracked version.

@better_walk_away The issue might be related to an inactivated license.
You can take a look at this answer on how to activate a license to take off the "Trail version" text.
Hope it works.
Sorry.. This doesn't work as well.. I was about to publish my game then I got this "trial version" watermark. I have tried to delete the license file in the ProgramData folder and tried "Activate New License" through Unity Editor, none of them worked.. I had submitted a support ticket to Unity yesterday, it needs 3 to 5 days until a Unity support contacts me. I wonder if I am the only person who still has this issue. I posted this question on 11/30, there were two other posts asking about the same problem in the meantime. So I can confirm that it's Unity side's problem..
There better not be 2 other posts on this - they've better have Searched, found this one, and possibly upvoted the Q or added a comment with more info.
Standard advice: delete and redownload, just to be sure.
I have also encountered the same issue. However the watermark only appears on some projects and some scenes, that means I can have a game where a scene has watermark but another scene the watermark disappears.
Never used Pro or Plus in my life but the watermark suddenly appears. I have reinstalled but still don't work.
you might wanna ask this question on the forum aswell, here are no unityemployees who will give an answer

I updated my question and I am pretty sure it is something change with Unity REMOTELY.
https://answers.unity.com/questions/1576623/why-my-personal-unity-have-trial-watermark.html
UPDATE: 12.3
Hey guys, I just solve it by activate license manually..
Link cannot be read. "something change with Unity RE$$anonymous$$OTELY." What did you mean?
Probably some issue on Unity's server relating to license check that mistakenly made our Unity program become trial version.
Good luck to you. But unfortunately, this doesn't work for me.. In the Unity editor, I click "Help" and then click "$$anonymous$$anage License" and then click "Activate New License", it doesn't work. Did I miss something? I am still waiting a Unity support contacts me.

Hi guys, I also have the same issue. I found this issue 7 days ago. When I try to install a new Unity on my new MacBook Pro, I found the Unity show "License Server is under maintenance" which makes me can't start Unity.
After around 30-45mins the License Server seems back online but then whatever I build it will show the "Trial Version" watermark.
I suspect there are some went wrong after License Server maintenance that night.
Now I can't remove the trial version watermark.
