Unity 4 not starting up normally?
Hello there. Just downloaded Unity 4 free edition, grabbed some youtube tutorials but when i start up my unity, the scene looks nothing like their scene. Theirs has the main mesh like field while mine is empty gray space, and even though i have the main camera in the hierarchy, i can't see it in the scene window (the little camera icon). I tried putting in a basic cube like in the video, theres shows up, but mine does not. What am i doing wrong? this is the link to the video i was watching: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QMWhtKjUr10
so i am a little confused :/
First, make sure you are in the Scene window.
Then check this image : http://docs.unity3d.com/Documentation/Images/manual/SceneViewNavigation-4.jpg
See the Sun Icon (toggles lights in scene view)? And next to it is a square icon (this is meant to be a picture frame with a picture of a mountain!), click on that to toggle it on/off. Note that when the 'PictureFrame' is disabled, the grid is visible =]
This video series is also very good (start at the bottom and work up) : http://www.unity3dstudent.com/category/modules/
thank you. i am still however, having trouble with objects. like i said, i put in a cube or sphere or anything, and nothing shows in either the game window or scene window thanks for the link. ill check them out :)
If you look in your Hierarchy window, is there anything there? In the same window, can you click on Create > Cube , and then does a cube appear in the Scene or Game or Hierarchy window?
it seems when i create an object, it is SUPPPER small and i have to scale it up to get the camera to see it. i dunno, weird thanks guys
Well, press F to focus into the object. That really helps.
