Build Machine Reccomendations?
I'm looking at build servers to produce our builds and to do some offline heavy lifting like baking light maps etc.
Because we are targeting iOS primarily, but also PC/MAC I am considering a Mac server sicen it could produce all build flavors. Is a Mac OSX server with a multi core Xeon (up to 12) a supported platform for a build machine?
One other option is a regular PC or linux server (much cheaper options) that shells out work to a Mac Pro box. Should I be concernerd about the fact that going this route means builds would be produced on a machines without ECC Ram?
Thanks!
I was also curious about this. I just built a WebGL version of the Space Shooter tutorial for an experiment at work and it took somewhere in the neighborhood of 20-30 $$anonymous$$utes.
I'm not sure what specs on a machine would best boost build times and/or quality. $$anonymous$$y assumption is that faster CPUs and more/faster RA$$anonymous$$ is most important, while GPUs probably don't help at all. I don't know how much multiple cores on CPUs will help.
$$anonymous$$y understanding with $$anonymous$$ac Pros is that most the hardware isn't taken advantage of by the software, and this is probably one of those cases. I would say Linux, but can you even build from Linux? I thought the editor was PC/$$anonymous$$ac only.
