Helper AI follow character
I am new to Unity and am hoping to have an AI in my game. This is not an enemy but a "Helper" NPC who follows you around and will go away from the player when it finds a treasure chest. But if he gets too far away from the player he will run back to the player or teleport to the player if it takes too long. If you have ever played the Wii game Go Vacation, the dog in it is how I want my NPC to behave. Maybe similar to how Link Wolf behaves in BoTW. Hitting the space bar should make the NPC come to the player. All the tutorials on AI seem to be on enemies though and not Helper AI's. If you can help me find a good tutorial or explain in simple ways that would be a big help.
