Question by radiktus · Jan 14, 2013 at 09:37 AM · guitextureguitexturequicktime

movie as gui texture is pixelated?

i created a movie using premiere and when i import it in my unity pro, it gets pixelated when i test it out.

im using a 1024x768 video, i tried playing it with vlc outside unity and its fine and clear. i tried using quicktime player and im seeing the same results as the one in unity. pixelated and low quality.

is there a fix to this?

We would need a snapshot to evaluate the problem correctly, and to quantify the "pixelation" problems.

You will usually get the best results if you convert the movie yourself into a format that Unity can read natively (=Ogg Theora Vorbis), so it doesn't have to perform a re-conversion.

Use this to convert any movie to .ogv: http://v2v.cc/~j/ffmpeg2theora/download.html

If the quality for the default parameters of that tool are not good enough for you, try something like:

 ffmpeg2theora-0.29.exe input_movie.xxx -v 10 -V 20000 --soft-target --two-pass -o output_movie.ogv
