Question by SuperMasterBlasterLaser · May 28, 2014 at 05:06 PM · imageserverwwwdownload

Localhost does not work after launching build from hosting

Hello.

I have WWW that gets images from localhost url: **http://localhost/myfolders/image.jpg**

I have XAMPP, in htdocs I placed myholders/image.jpg and placed my build to inside htdocs too. When I launch XAMPP it I open my browser and start my game. It gets this image well.

After that, I placed all my files and folders inside hosting server. When I start the game from www.mydomain.com/mygame.html it could not get that image.

Why, I thought if you want to get something from server where you are located too, is always considered as localhost? Do I need always rewrite URL address for every domain where I place my files and rebuild it?

Yes. You need to provide the domain name from where you want to fetch the images in the URL.

Just a bit of technical, the domain name from your URL is resolved to an IP address via DNS and then that IP address is accessed for the data (image in your case). If you keep the domain name to be localhost then your system will always resolve the localhost to 127.0.0.1 and not the IP address of your domain which you actually want to access.

Thank you for answer. I always thought that if your objects placed inside server and tries to access them, they would consider it as localhost. Imagine that you want find something in your own house and you want to find something in you friends house)
