How can I fix Monodevelop mouse focus issue on OSX?

I'm using a Macbook Pro. When I have a second screen attached Monodevelop has no mouse focus issues. However when I use only the normal laptop screen, after clicking once in Monodevelop, the app loses mouse focus. No clicks are recognized until I change focus to some other window.

Is this really what i get for my $3k software license???
