Best way to make a Character
I need a character. I do not own Unity pro, and do not plan on getting for a bit, so I need to know if it's possible to import a character from Maya or other programs like this. If it is, how exactly do i do this?
The whole idea is to import a character from $$anonymous$$aya or other programs. Pro doesn't have anything to do with it; you don't do modeling or rigging in Unity.
Oh I just saw on a couple of tutorials on how to import from SketchUp you need pro.. Ok thanks :)
Hey is there a similar program that doesn't cost anything?
oh and Eric5h5 can you try to help on this question too...

You misunderstand. You need Sketchup Pro, not Unity Pro.

Blender.

I think that Blender is the best tool for making Models for Unity, because, you don't need to convert or export anything. The regular save-file *.blend is accepted by Unity, including bonesystems.

if you're using Maya, drag the .fbx file into unity. or right click in the project panel and choose "Import new asset". same thing for Blender.
