Effects Of Tiling Textures
How much does texture tiling affect performance? Say I have a 512x512 texture and i tile it 4 times, is it like having a 2048x2048 texture? Im wondering because im trying to create better looking textures while keeping the number materials to a minimum to reduce draw calls.

big texture is just takes more video memory - in render process textures are stored in memory uncompressed, so 2048x2048 texture with RGBA format will take 2048x2048x4 = 16MBytes
video renderer is no different wich texture size to use. in any case taking pixel from texture means calculare just pixels near the coordinate currently calculating - it is max 4 pixels.
so answer - no. no affect on perfomance, just don't forget about video memory. if you reach video memory limit you got perfomance problems
so does that mean a tiled texture increases in overall size? like 512 will turn in 2048 if tiled 4 times? Im trying to tile bricks to make them smaller and more numerous, but i dont want to hurt performance because of it.
No, you can tile a texture on a very long plane many times it will not effect performance.
