Rotation error while painting grass with terrain editor
Every time I try to paint grass onto my terrain this image texture (its a .png if that matters) shows up rotated instead of meeting seamlessly. WHAT is the issue??? I know that sometimes while painting trees in unity with the terrain editor the trees will show up rotated strangely due to the rotation they were set at in the 3d modeling software. So I have fixed the tree issue by rotating it in blender -90 degrees on x axis and applying the rotation, but perhaps I need to do this in photoshop or gimp some how?][1]

Ha I figured it out. I confused myself by having an image that I had named "grass." Since my image was named grass I was mistakenly trying to "paint" the grass on the terrain by a part of the terrain editor meant for placing multiple blades of grass, making the grass look 3D. As you can imagine in the above image if each picture was replaced with an image of a single blade of grass.I also thought this was a problem due to the previous error I had with tree rotation.
Anyways all works fine and for those of you who, like myself, are new to dealing with terrain, in order to "paint" a GROUND texture, you must use texture paint. Also keep in mind with texture paint you have to use two images before you can paint the terrain. The first texture you use will always tile the entire terrain.
