Question by Cherno · Mar 22, 2014 at 06:02 PM · shadowlightmappingbaking

Baked shadows too dark

(Unity Free)

I have a scene where all props are set to static and their shadows are baked from a directional light (which is set to hard shadows / auto.

I also have a couple of characters etc. that are not set to static and therefore create real-time shadows.

The baked shadows however are very dark while the real-time shadows are much brighter, how can I match the two so it looks realistic?

I didn't read it all, but I think you could try over there : http://docs.unity3d.com/Documentation/$$anonymous$$anual/LightmappingInDepth.html

Berenger, thanks, I read it and it was indeed the light's Shadow Strength parameter that needed adusting. That still leaves me with very dark shadows :D

You cannot use baked lighting in the Unity Free version.

I assume you mean I can't use real-time shadows in the Unity Free version. It's still wrong though, the newest version includes support for real-time shadows from a single directional light source.
