Question by hansccwolf · Dec 05, 2012 at 01:52 AM · hardware

Can I run Unity decently in Samsung Ativ Smart PC Pro?

Due to circumstances, I would not own desktop. So laptop is my so-called working station. I am considering a new laptop. Samsung Ativ Smart PC Pro looks good, but can anyone assure me if it would run Unity decently?

The spec is: Processor Intel® Core™ i5 Processor 3317U (1.70GHz, 3MB L3 Cache) Intel HM76 Memory 4GB DDR3 System Memory at 1,600MHz (on BD 4GB) Graphic Intel® HD Graphics 4000 Hard Drive 128GB Solid state Drive

I know many people would recommend me to buy a laptop and a tablet, but I would like to have just one gadget that do them all. Intel HD 4000 is said to be able to run Unity decently (I am using Unity Free which would not drain processor as much as the full version), but I doubt the i5 processor clocked at 1.70GHz. Thank you to anyone who can help me! :D

Well, I can run Unity in my old laptop with a crappy Intel 945GM video, 2GB RAM and CPU Intel Core Duo 1.8 GHz. The problem isn't Unity - it can run in very weak machines. The real drama is to render complex scenes - I simply can't run Bootcamp Demo in this machine, for instance. But running Unity in a slow machine sometimes may be a good thing, specially if you develop for mobile devices, because you're constantly pressed to produce the most efficient code.
