Video to be play in a 360 degree fashion?
Hello,
Platform : Android
I wish to have a video being played in a 360 degree fashion like a skybox. How can I achieve that on Android?
Something similar to this. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K0YAPhjUcVg
Thanks,
Karsnen.
Just want to add that you can't simply play "a video" in a 360° way as it would look just distorted. The YT video you linked played a very special 360° video (actually 6 videos which were recorded simultaneously) which requires some special hardware to record. It's the same google uses for their street-view pictures, but google only takes one picture a second. The company that invented that cam, offers some kind of API / render engine to display such videos. Just take a look at http://www.finwe.fi/360.html

You will need to texture your video to the inside of a sphere. Then have your camera on the inside of the sphere and use the gyroscope to control the movement of the camera.

I guess by picking frames from video and setting them to skybox.
Somehow :| I think that nobody can answer your question with code reference.
Not really looking for code reference. Just seeing the best plausible way.
Or make a inverted sphere and stretch the video texture around , better for performance but lower quality i guess.
