Is it necessary to add a rigidbody to a mesh that will be animated for visuals only?

Is it necessary to add a rigidbody to a mesh that will be animated for visuals only?

I need to animate some the visual side of my level into place. These gameobjects do not affect the gameplay nor require any collision. Is it ok to animate it without a collider and a rigidbody?

If you want some gravity on it you will need a rigidbody but if you only want to change its transform properties you won't need one.

So by animating the mesh only I will be okay on the performance side? sorry i just don't know how the calculation of the object's position works when no collider is attached.

I am sure that physics calculations are more performance expensive than an animation but that does not mean that you can't use them.

I don't know what you want to animate but in most cases you won't need a rigidbody.
