Question by DevMerlin · Nov 29, 2012 at 12:43 AM · aipathfinding

Can anyone recommend an A* hex grid pathfinding tutorial - or script?

I'm looking to set up basic movement for my player object, allowing six-way directional movement on a hexagonal grid. I'm not sure if pathfinding is the best way, but I'm looking at it as an option. I'd like to be able to automate the movement for point-and-click as much as possible - that would make building an AI for a grid-based game simpler.

I've already looked at Angry Ant's solutions and not really sure that it can be used for a grid. Another solution used Linq, which broke under Unity.

Linq works fine in Unity... What problem did you have?

The tut on Gems covers A* Pathfinding on a normal grid - but could be adapted for hexagons.
