Can I open a version controlled project with Unity Free?

Question

If I have Unity Pro and I make a project (with the source control option enabled for storing metadata), and then upload that project to Git or something, can I download the project with Git in Unity Free? And then, other people could edit only the scripts or something, and only upload the script changes? Thanks.
