Question by lenix · Sep 12, 2012 at 12:33 PM · ioslicense

iOS Basic License, number of machines?

Hello, We're a team of 2 developers and we're thinking of buying the iOS Basic license. We're mainly concerned about the External version control support feature. We want to change the file structure to Meta so we can use external versioning systems ( git for example ). The question is, can we switch the file structure on both of our machines using one license?

Thanks in advance,

so you want to use UnityFree ($0),

and the iOS ($400)

is that right?

The classic answer to these questions is "It may only be used by a single person" whi his stated many times on the Unity web site, very clearly.

Now as a curiosity ...

However you're talking about the "iOS" "addon" product (ie, the $400 "iOS" product).

Now, the wording always talks about "One Unity license is good for..." and if you look here http://unity3d.com/unity/unity-end-user-license-3.x that clearly is the license agreement for the product "UNITY FREE VERSION 3.5"

For the record, I can not, actually, find the user agreement for the "$400 iOS product"

(Actually, that does suck a little but, since, when you "buy" the "$400 iOS product", or anything else, the entirety of what they are selling is expressed solely in .. the user agreement.)

Again, this document very clearly

http://unity3d.com/unity/unity-end-user-license-3.x

makes NO reference at all to the add-ons, so, it would be good to actually see the user agreement (i.e. "what you pay for") for the add-ons.

You can't buy IP without a EULA so, it would be interesting to see it!

It's curious, I went through my old emails but couldn't find a license agreement, only an invoice and download instructions! But if I remember from the Unite09 keynotes correctly, any addon product is simply that - an expansion to your current product. So it would be safe to assume the addon is bound by the same rules as the version of Unity and the associated user i.e. generally 1 person only, but installed to 2 machines (work / home). To be safe you should send in an email : http://unity3d.com/company/contact

"For the latest EULA, please navigate to: http://unity3d.com/company/legal/eula

(This covers both Pro and Free versions)"

any solicitor would say that only covers the products Unity / Unity Pro. the other products are not mentioned at all !

Thanks, I became curious from this question and went looking, surprised to find there was no directly accessible EULA.

I did find a comment by Eric here : http://forum.unity3d.com/threads/38869-EULA

I may be installing 3.5.5 pro trial tomorrow to check out provisioning, when I run the installer I shall make a note of the license agreement statement.

I've already contacted A $$anonymous$$an At Unity about the issue !

I honestly think they might have plain forgot .. that sort of thing can happen.
