how to make gunshots

im making a fps game, and i added a gunshot sound to my gun. The problem was if i shoot to fast the sound overlaps the prevouis shots one. So i decided to add the script and sound to the prefab. it didnt work and i ahve no idea where to start. please give me a script . thanks
