Kinect for Windows v2 (Motion Capture)
Hi all,
I am thinking about buying a Kinect for Windows v2 so that I can polish up my game with some nice animations.
I have now done some research and am getting a bit of second thoughts..
It seems that there will only be a Microsoft SDK software available.. Does anyone know when third-party software may become available to help me out because I really don't know what to do once I get the Kinect.
I install it, install the SDK, and then what do I use? Does it even support MotionBuilder?
I am really new to Motion Capture, if anyone could help me out?
Thanks.
Just a note on your question as both this thread and the $$anonymous$$icrosoft info came up on a Google search.
there are other possibilities: IPISOFT (havent tested) [http://ipisoft.com/store/][1]
and Brekel (haven't tested): [link text][2]
Once captured to motions, you would need to export to BVH to blender. From Blender, it is a piece of cake to export to unity. [1]: http://ipisoft.com/store/ [2]: http://brekel.com/

Mocap is super complicated, and the Kinect data is pretty noisy, which means human and/or software cleanup afterwards. Probably you should do some basic searching, as there are a lot of threads already on mocap and unity and kinect. There's even a Kinect Mocap for Unity product on the UAS!
Aright, thanks. Yeah that Cinema $$anonymous$$o Cap doesn't currently support $$anonymous$$inect V2, but hopefully it will update very soon after the release of the $$anonymous$$inect V2.
But thanks anyway mate.

If anyone is still looking for compatible software to use for the Kinect for Windows Version 2, then I want to say that I have been using Brekel Pro Body v2. It's really good and the export to Unity is good.
If you are a Student: you can get a 30% discount I believe, I recommend the program if you are looking in to big projects such as first person shooters or projects that involve a complex mecanim system, etc.
Good luck with your projects and good luck with Mocap.
Do you have a tutorial how to animate rigging from kinect to blender ? thank you so much
