Problems installing on Mac OSX 10.5 (Leopard)
Hi. I'm having a problem installing Unity (3.5.6, latest edition) on my Mac running OSX 10.5.8 (Leopard). I'm getting the following error:
According to the system requirements it should work. Can anyone help?
10.8.2 is $$anonymous$$ountain lion, To get mountain lion you have to upgrade to at least snow leopard, Paulky45 What are your mac specs? is it intel or power PC based?
It's Intel based, from August 2009. 2.53GHz, 4gigs of ram, NVIDIA GeForce 9400$$anonymous$$ graphics card. It doesn't have the latest OS but according to the specs Unity should still work on Leopard.
Is the OS the problem?
Try the following before installing unity, Go to Applications->Utilities->Disk Utilities, Run disk permissions check and verify drive , make sure you don't have any errors. I work for Apple and most of the time I see that error its a permissions problem, :) (Also once verified if there is any errors click fix)
$$anonymous$$y plan was to get Lion when it came out, but I got annoyed at the fact that I'd have to buy Snow Leopard just so I could use to App store to buy Lion, so updating went on the long finger after that. It's on my 'To buy' list, but I'm hoping I can delay it for a few months at least, but will do if needs be.
@daten I checked all the disk permissions and it was all fine. Ran a Repair anyway but it hasn't made a difference.
@fattie Those specs look very similar to $$anonymous$$e, so glad to know I can run it once I manage to get it installed. But it's annoyed that Unity says it'll run on Leopard when it can't.
@eric5h5 Thanks for the help, I'll try and see if I can get my hands on an older version for the meanwhile (and so I can report the problem officially). I just started a new course so I'm hoping to having a play around with it as soon as possible.

Unity 3.5.6 does indeed appear to fail to install on 10.5.8. This is probably an error on their part and should be reported with the bug reporter app (from a working Unity install of course). Unity 3.5.2 installs fine; not sure about 3.5.3, .4, or .5 since I don't have those immediately to hand. Unity 3.5.6 does install on 10.6.8.

Thanks to various answers on the site I've found out that Unity 3.5.6 doesn't seem to install on Leopard. If anyone on this OS has this same problem then I found out that 3.5.5 does install and works fine. Found the download link for that version thanks to this question.
Just did. Added the above because it took some hunting on Google and the Unity forums to find out how to download previous versions of Unity.
