iOS Swipe while game is paused

I've been reading, and investigating solutions for registering swipe inputs however all of my findings have involved the time of the swipe.

As I would like Swipe functionality in my pause menu, I ask for suggestions on how this could be achieved.

I pause my game like so: Time.timeScale = 0.0;
