How to use the imported animations from Maya in the animator controller?
I just started with rigging and animation in maya. In unity, I have worked with the animator controller for animations done in unity itself. Now when I import the animated character in maya, I want to use the imported animations in the animator controller and not in the animation component. Since animator gives great flexibility in transitioning between animations.
I tried creating an animator controller and dropping the animation in it as a state machine. But it is not working. Could someone help me out with this or refer a tutorial for setting up the animator controller with imported animations.
Your question is similar to a problem I am having in Unity 5. I have imported an FBX of a rigged biped into Unity 5 from $$anonymous$$aya. I created an idle using that same character in $$anonymous$$aya. I baked the keys of the idle animation in $$anonymous$$aya and exported an FBX.
I configured the character as a humanoid, all green ready to go. I created an animator controller and placed it into the correct slot in the inspector. I have an entry state and a idle state in the animator window. But the character in the scene will not play the idle when I hit play.
