Isometric/Dimetric 2D game with pixel art tiles

Hey,

I'm trying to do an isometric rpg game, and I just want to ask for your advice about the best approach using Unity and if it's feasible. My goal is to do a game with a retro look, something similar to Fallout 1, pixel art, disappearing roofs, different floors, transparent walls when the main character is behind them, grid-like map organization of cells, so, having this in mind, I need to know if it's easy to do this or if unity is not the best engine for this type of games.

I read some of articles, but basically, all of them suggest doing this sorts of games in 3d with an orthographic projection, but that is not what I have in mind.

Thank you for your time

Hi there, I have been quite succesfull into doing this until now. I was searching for an elegant way of rendering my characters behind walls and found your post ;) But Unity was quite awesome for me for everything else until now. I am making a fully 2D tactical rpg :)

This question is better suited for the forums where it can be discussed in depth. As another mod already pointed out in his or her "closing statement", there is no one clear answer to this question. Feel free to start a thread on the forums :)
