Where to find free background music?
I've had some issues finding free royalty free background music for my game. By that, I mean natural background music, like crickets chirping and the wind.
Without recording these sounds personally, are there any free websites for these available, or is there a name for this type of music?
Also seeking sound effects in general separately. For example, footsteps.
it's called "ambient" or "ambient effects"
if you're looking for free, use google.
the main sound effects site in the game and movie business is probably soundsnap.com

Google, search, free sound effects.
eg.
http://www.audiomicro.com/free-sound-effects
http://www.grsites.com/archive/sounds/
There are lots more - be aware some are free for non commercial use only so if you are going to sell a game then dont use those ones!
http://soundimage.org/ I've created over 1800 tracks of music and sound effects that can be freely used with attribution. $$anonymous$$ost of them can loop as well. Enjoy!

How about some burps instead of crickets chirping? You can find some on this site- http://www.freemusicpublicdomain.com/
