Problems with Asian Font Rendering

When I try to use an asian font, be it one of the OTF included in my OS or some TTF I download from the Internet, the engine refuses to render properly when Standalone build target is selected, but works like charm when building for the web (here is an example )

Has any one some insight on what might be happening? is some sort of error I made or some configuration I missed?
