detect audio then record and then play

Hey everyone, i need to detect sound through microphone and once the sound level goes beyond a particular intensity then i need to start recording that sound until sound level remain above that intensity and once it came below that intensity it would stop recording and play that recorded sound. is there any way i can do that ?
