Getting Camera View (Mini-map)

I've been looking into how to create mini-map for my game, but I haven't found an answer. I thought about how to create a map and decided I could use the view from a camera and convert it into a GUI. I think (not 100% sure) that if I can figure out how to access the view from a camera in a script I set up I can the mini-map. If anybody can explain how to do that or how to make a mini-map another way that would be awesome.
