is there an alternative for raycast that does a plane instead
is there an alternative for raycast that does a plane instead, so that i can check the if there is a collision along a a complete axis.
eg
i have a helicopter firing a gun along the world Z axis in the forward direction (0,0,1), i want to check if there is a collision between the helicopter and any objects along that path, the problem is that some objects are at different heights so a raycast would not work . is there a way to do this ?

you can use triggers created on zero-height for objects that should be detected this way, and make a raycast in zero-height too. this will return eny objects actually on any height
