Is the master server down?
Swap Fire was using the master server just fine and now all of a sudden it can't connect?

what the hell is going on? i have torn apart my core and network code, doing hours worth of damage, and i can no longer host or connect to other players with my new game "BACKSPACE". why am i registering with a third party master server to begin with? i don't use photon or any other third party website proprietary software for this reason and i still get screwed. i deserve an explanation as to why unity would make you register with a "MASTER SERVER" and furthermore why this "MASTER SERVER" is down. networking is really basic, it is one computer communicating with another. i was doing this with the game "doom" back in the 90s with no master server or proprietary third party website registration process. this problem needs to be fixed right away or i am switching engines.
You just totally misunderstood the master server concept. You should host your own master server. Unity isn't a ga$$anonymous$$g platform provider. Unity just host a test masterserver which is in general quite unreliable because a lot of different test projects uses it. It's not a fault by Unity. Host your own master server and you're golden.
Btw, nobody forces you to use a masterserver at all. You can still direct connect to any IP address you like. Nowadays you might have trouble to connect because almost all users are behind a NAT router. This kind of problems doesn't exist back the days when doom was in development.
So nowadays you need either make the user to configure a port forwarding in their router, or you provide a masterserver which enables you to do a NAT-punchthrough which works with most hardware, but this technique is actually quite hacky and good routers can't be fooled. The whole NAT technique is actually hacky as well, but it has been established now, so we can't get rid of it.
btw, the very same question has been asked several times now and your answer is actually no answer to the question.

It appears so as my game can't connect either and I haven't made any changes that would explain it.

I too have noticed that the Unity Master Server appears to be down. It was working two days ago. Is the server down, or has something changed?

it must be down. i thought it was my code and i tore apart my project. then i thought the reason i cannot connect to other players might be that i need the new version of unity. i downloaded the new version of unity and it screwed my whole project i have to backdate 3 weeks now.

is the unity master server still down? i dont mean to be rude but this is really getting in the way of my work. i need to know and maybe i can set up my own "master server", no biggy, just need an answer here.
I think so. I heard that the $$anonymous$$aster Server is sometimes down for a month or so although this didn't happen that often after Unity changed the Server.
