Question by Proclyon · Sep 23, 2010 at 01:01 PM · shaderwebplayervideocard

What is the most common shader model (2.0+,3.0+,4.0+) for unity web player users (or an average)

Hi everyone, just new to unity forum here.

I'm currently doing some research for designing an app and was digging through the hardware info for unity web player users.

The following tabs were the ones of interest for me:

Graphical memory bandwidth of shader model 2.0+ cards GB/s Graphical memory bandwidth of shader model 3.0+ cards GB/s Graphical memory bandwidth of shader model 4.0+ cards GB/s

Basically this showed the % of users using these shader cards. % of the total of cards used by unity web player users.

I need the numbers for AVERAGE shaders

Like this example here, hope it helps make this question less technical mumbo-jumbo:

100% users of Unity Web Player

  1. 24,5% using 2.0 <= x < 3.0 shaders
  2. 56.5% using 3.0 <= x < 4.0 shaders
  3. 19.0% using........... x > 4.0 shaders

That way I can make a proper choice what the target audience for the app should be regarding hardware support. Don't wanna get it wrong and miss out on customers, nor frustrate them and their old computers :)

Thanks in advance for your support!

P.S.

A link to the hardware info, maybe I just missed the obvious: http://unity3d.com/webplayer/hwstats/pages/web-2010Q2-gfxperf.html

the stats are quite surprising ! OS windows 97.1 % and mac 2.9 % and 27.9 of users use 1024x768 resolution !!!

Quite so indeed, I had expected a higher increase of W7 users per quarter aswell but that's not even over ~5ish ~6ish percent. People love their XP versions even some Vista( even SP 2 users quite high, I wonder why , could be many reasons, even simply financial)

Yup, clear and simple, Unity already realized the importance of the information , I just didn't find it yet.

Thank you Unity tech group! Keep up the good work :)
