Good way to begin designing custom tree/shurbs/grass textures?
I currently use GIMP and Paint.net. I'm not the best texture artist,or artist really, I mean I am creative, just not good. I have been taking photos and using them for stuff like grass, dirt, and most textures. Now I wish to design custom trees and shurbs and flowers and such but I don't think you could take a photo of all that.
So how would I go along and learn to be a better artist and start designing these type of things for Unity and 3D models?
I know this may be out of place but i'm not sure of where to ask it, so sorry about this if its wrong.
Thanks for all and any help though!

I had this exact same question, here's the response I got: Creating Trees and Foliage
Alright, i'm going to take a look at it. Thank you. Also, I forgot to mention this in the question but I am modeling trees in Blender, not using Unity's tree maker, it gives more freedom to use less polygons or more detail.
I was looking at it all, but I need to know how to design CUSTO$$anonymous$$ textures, this simply shows how to use them.
Oh, sorry, didn't even see that. You'll have to create a UV map for your tree, which you (if I'm not mistaken,) can do in blender. A UV map is like a 3D texture layout for a 3D object.
Yes, I can do UV mapping just fine, I am talking about the texture itself.
