Question by AndreasX12 · Apr 12, 2014 at 12:49 PM · colorwaterreflectionrealisticocean

Unity water change color? (with picture)

Hi. I have a little problem.

alt text

As you can see in the picture, the ocean is not the same color. To the left it's darker and to the right it's lighter.

How can I change the Unity Pro Water's color to a single color only?

Thanks in advance.

Andreas.

Hello bud, Are you using Water 4 from the pro Water bundle? If so, you can go to the object and change it`s "specular lighting" script to reduce the white specularity(not sure that`s a real word) of the water. Try that first .... Run project in Editor window. Goto-your Water object in the scene/select it. Goto-it`s inspector Goto- SpecularLighting script. $$anonymous$$ess with color and look at your water brightness - adjust until happy. Here are two images that show visually what i`m talking about above.

Water with Spec

Water with darker spec settings

Thanks for your answer.

Actually, I imported the Water Pro into Unity Indie - so I don't have those scripts.

Is there another way to disable the specular lighning? (which I guess is the same, when it's Unity Indie)

Unfortunately, you cant import the Unity Water Pro plugins successfully into Community edition as it requires Unity pro to run them (extra lights and quite a bit more to boot). You will probably find nothing but further troubles trying to hack the pro water version inside Community edition Unity bud. However, there are some free water plugins for unity both from the people themselves and other offerings through the Asset Store. Other than that, you may be stuck with what you can currently get out of it, as i said above, No pro Unity, No Pro Water (at least, a proper working version that can be refined etc). Take care bud, Hope that helps somewhat, though I know it`s probably not what you wanted to read, ultimately. If you look at the exact water you are using and come back here to tell me, we may be able to fake it somehow or do something with it etc. Cheers. Gruffy

Okay. Thanks for your help.

I have searched the Asset Store and the internet for solutions for realistic water. I have tried a lot of shaders but none of them have been more realistic than the Unity water. Could you recommend a free realistic water shader?

Thanks.
