Multiple Animated Objects Maya
I am designing a character avatar that has a swing sword animation. Currently I have the sword and the character as two objects, and I would prefer to keep it that way, as I may want to enable the character to drop the sword or pick something else up. Due to my character bobbing (in run, jump, strafe, etc.) animations, I went ahead and animated the sword object in Maya (with keyed transforms to the object) right alongside the skinned mesh. When I export an FXB of both objects to Unity, the mesh character works great, and the sword imports, but the sword does not animate. What is the best way to capture animation on both objects? Do I need to create a skeleton for the sword and export separate FXBs that correspond to each character movement (I hope there is a simpler solution).
