Unity crashes for no reason
Hi. I'm using Unity to make particle system for a video game project. At first it worked pretty well, but today, for no reason it keeps crashing every 30sec after i start it. I thought it was a problem of compatibility with a recording video software but uninstalling this one hasn't resolve my problem. Ive upgrade unity to the last version (3.5.2f2). I've got no warning or error message, windows just tell me that the program doesn't answer anymore
My computer runs on win7 x64, 8GB ram, ie7.. I don't if its helping. But that's all i can say about my problem. If someone knows how to fix it, will be a big relief. Thx.

If you are running Windows Vista or 7 you may have to right click and Run as Administrator as I know I was having a problem with Windows Permissions with UAC.

best thing i can suggest is send an error report to unity and restore to a back up, it might be a bug with the update. saying that if you have downloaded any scriptable assets they may be causing it to crash. try running previous unity version as well to determine if its the release.
make a new project and try doing some stuff in it. if unity isnt opening at all best bet is to try other version. silly question but have you tried restarting your computer, sometimes taking the cmos battery can fix silly problems doubt it would do anything though.

Thank you for your quick answer. Not a silly suggestion. I've tried it but without any success. Im gonna resintall a previous version. Ill also ask my teacher if he has any clue about this kind of problem. Thx anyway ^^
dont know what else to suggest i dont use windows anymore due to developing for ios, makes sense to use a mac. i did have a problem a while ago which caused unity to freeze, for some reason when my project was stretched accross two monitors it would just show a white screen, if i had it on one it would work fine.
i also had a script once which had a loop which didnt end which caused it to crash, i had to edit the script before opening it again.
8gb of ram should be more than enough to run unity, i only have 5 and have unity, blender, gimp, logic platinum, soundtrack, internet and xcode running at the same time
Oh god ive got a script like the one you describe which launch and loop the animation of the PS. I'm gonna delete it, see if it works and tell you if that resolve this annoying problem. Thx for the advice!
Ok unfortunelately it was not co$$anonymous$$g from that. I created a total new and empty project, building a PS in it. Unity freezes! I don't know what to do. It worked perfectly few weeks ago. What kind of black magic is this?!

I have the same problem and it is really stressing me out. I work for less than 5 mins and it crashes. I deleted all files to do with Unity, uninstalled and then re-installed the latest version... My only guess is that there is a dodgy script somewhere but I dont see how that can effect a new project. Someone please help

i would agree with micheal gray, because happened with me all the time, i threw my mac on the floor because it was so irritating. I am sure it was some tool kits from the asses store that were causing this problem. Just try a new project without imaporting any tools and stuff it'll work.
