Question by pkout · May 17, 2012 at 05:03 AM · androidosx

Do I have to buy two Unity3D to develop for Android and iPhone?

I want to develop an app for both android and iPhone simultaneously. Do I need to purchase two separate copies (licenses and actual operating system versions) of the Unity3D to accomplish that or does buying one license come with both operating systems version of Unity? I surely hope the latter is the case.

Thank you

There is only one Unity program, but iOS publishing and Android publishing are two separate licenses. https://store.unity3d.com/

Thanks for the answer! Can you please elaborate and share with me how this works? So I develop an app on Windows using Unity. Let's assume I purchased iOS publishing license as well. How do I actually publish the app to iPhone? Do I need a $$anonymous$$ac computer for that? People in the forums say I do. But my Unity is a Windows version program, it won't run on $$anonymous$$ac to publish the app from there. So I don't understand how this works. Can you please explain. Thank you.

Yes, you need a $$anonymous$$ac. There is no option to use iOS publishing on Unity Windows. So you have to download the $$anonymous$$ac version of Unity. You can have Unity installed on two different computers with one license.

Great, that's what I was looking into. So I can have $$anonymous$$ac and Windows Unity with one license. Great! Thanks, Eric!
