iPhone 4 lagging while iPhone 3GS still fluid
Hi everyone,
I am making an application for both iPhone3GS and iPhone4, and I have a problem that I don't understand. The exactly same project lags on the iPhone4 whereas on iPhone3GS it's fluid. It doesn't make sense to me as the iPhone4 is much more powerful thant the iPhone3GS. I have tested it on several iPhone3GS and 4, and the result is always the same.
I have looked for the specs difference of the two iPhone, and I have found that the iPhone3GS uses both openGL ES1.1 and 2.0 while the iPhone4 uses only the 2.0 version. I thought then that my problem could come from that difference, but on the project settings, it's specified that the device have to use openGL ES 2.0 in priority. I have no idea where to look to fix that...

This is true and false on the same time. The phone spec are better. But the problem problem come from the Retina Display. On Iphone 4 you have 4 time the pixel on screen you had on 3GS but the GPU(CPU) is not 4 time faster.
To test if that the problem try to low your application resolution in unity player setting. If it work then you have a render performance problem. On IPhone 4 usually transparent object or complex pixel shader cause problem.
