Question by DarkArtsProdigy · Mar 04, 2013 at 11:10 PM · fatal error

Fatal Error When I Load Unity

It started today. I tried to get onto my project in Unity but it says "Fatal Error! Could not allocate memory: System out of memory! Trying to allocate: 2085482240B with 4 alignment. MemoryLabel: STL Allocation happend at line: 55 in"

It says some other stuff but it's too long. What happened, how can I fix this?

Try holding the "ALT" key down when you launch. This will force Unity to open the project selection wizard ins$$anonymous$$d of loading the last project. It's possible you have a corrupted project file or your project has become too asset heavy.

Just tried this method and it doesn't work. Always try before you post. Anyway try opening Unity up using the command line and adding this -createProject to the unity.exe. Give it some innocuous path and let us know if it opens.

Well, if you've used the command line then it's not your project. Unity does use some virtual memory but not sure if it uses Windows system or its own version (Assu$$anonymous$$g your using the Windows version). You have 4 options: 1) To quote Roy Trenneman... "Have you turned it off and on?"

2) Check to see how much ram is available in Task $$anonymous$$anager before starting Unity.

3) Check to see how big your page file is and how much is being used. A quick Google search will reveal some walk throughs on how to get at the page file.

4) Re-install Unity.

If none of those work you may have issues bigger than Unity.

i re-installed Unity- it didn't work. How do I know how much RA$$anonymous$$ is in the Task $$anonymous$$anager? All I see is physical memory and kernel memory.

Your RA$$anonymous$$ is physical memory. But under ther performance tab look for the Resource monitor and then go to the memory tab. Its much more readable there.

For the page file memory follow this LIN$$anonymous$$.
