Which is the free version now?
I need to get my facts straight for a memo I'm writing:
People can download Unity Pro 3.3+Android now for a 30-day trial. Does that revert back to a Unity Indie version, or does the whole trial install shut down? Is there still a Unity version that's available for free permanent install, like Unity Indie?
Unity will refuse to run without a valid license installed; it will not simply 'auto-downgrade' to Unity Indie. If you try launching Unity without a valid license, it'll prompt you to go through the registration process to acquire a license. So, that's what happens when your 30-day trial has expired.
At any time, you can go to the website and acquire a Unity Indie license, for free, that lasts indefinitely. You can do this the very first time you run Unity (and skip the Pro trial), or you can do it any time during the 30 days, or you can do it once the 30 days expire.
Unity Indie is, as far as I'm aware, available for free permanent install.
Yep. It's free and it'll stay free. Let's just pray Unity 4.X will have the same indy license. ;)
after the pro trail version ends you can use the free version of unity with out effecting your current project
Though you won't, of course, be able to use Pro stuff with that project. But you have probably figured that out.
