How to assign references from scene view?
On the Assigning References manual page (http://unity3d.com/support/documentation/Manual/Editing%20Reference%20Properties.html), it states that you can "drag and drop [references] simply by selecting the desired object in the Scene View"... but how do you do this? If I try to click-and-drag an object from the scene view into a variable, then it either moves the object in the world (if it's already selected) or drags a selection box (Unity 3.0).
How do I drag-and-drop a reference from the scene view?
Thanks.

I'm not sure but that might be a typo, However if you select an object from scene view, that object is also selected (& highlighted) in project view. Try selecting the object from Project view or Hierarchy view, Then drag & drop the selected Object into the slot.
Yeah, I was afraid this might be the answer. It just becomes unwieldy when you have hundreds of objects in the scene.
