I was exporting as .OBJ rather than .FBX
(1 foot X 1 foot X 1 foot Cube) for comparison.

You can modify the scale in Unity using the scale factor when you click on your model in the inspector.
No offense to the response (I appreciate it) but that method sounds tedious and inconsistent. So I'd have to do a manual scale factor tweek for every single object in Unity? I was hoping to be able to model something in exact units in $$anonymous$$ax and (export it / import it)and have the same scale.
Example [1 foot in $$anonymous$$ax = 1 foot in Unity]
I'm willing to try it this way - Just sounds tedious is all. Thanks for the answer. :)
You'll have to work on 3ds$$anonymous$$ax's end then.

In $$anonymous$$ax, 1 unit = 1 meter.
Try that.
Download no longer exists. But I've been bouncing around that thread and have wondered where the "import scale in unity" is at? Unless they're referring to what you mentioned above? I'm under the impression this is something that you set once and all imported meshes adjust to it.
I know the download's gone, but does 1 unit = 1 meter not work under Customize?
About the import scale, yeah, it's what I mentioned. You can use a script to change it for all imports: http://answers.unity3d.com/questions/12187/import-settings.html
You should fix the settings in 3DS$$anonymous$$ax (obviously this isn't the venue for that app); we used to see these questions all the time for Blender exports until folks set their scaling properly in Blender.
