Unity 5 splash screen problem? (Android and iOS)
Hi all,
I was hoping someone could clarify something for me, regarding the unity 5 new animated splash screen.
I'm having some odd behavior on my app which i upgraded from a unity 4.6 project to unity 5.0.1. I have the personal edition.
Android
The android splash screen is still the old static one and seems to be a 1 size fits all, making it look horrible on some phones (my game is landscape only). As shown below. Is this normal or am i supposed to have the new one?
iOS
I've noticed that in the iOS player settings there seems to be options to add your own splash screen across all mobile platforms? However if i set a splash here it is definitely not shown on android (for me) it only shows what i have stated above, regardless of these settings.
When i load up my game on iOS, if i havent set my own personal splash screen in the settings, i get a black screen for ~3 seconds and my game loads into the first scene. No unity splash screen at all.
If i have set my own splash in these settings my game will show my splash for ~3 seconds and then load into the first scene.
My current splash screen settings are shown below.
What I'd like to know
Just to clarify, i have the personal edition. I'm not asking how i can get my own splash screen instead of unity's. I want to know if this is the correct behavior because i don't want to ship my game on iOS with no unity splash and run into legal issues.
Secondly the splash shown on android looks terrible and i was wondering if for some reason the unity guys haven't put in the new splash on this platform yet. Or if it's a problem on my end.
Thirdly I'd like to know if the player settings in iOS that are supposed to be for all mobile platforms are actually supposed to effect android or not.

If you have the free edition, then you'll see that it will show the unity splash screen no matter what.
Well that's precisely my point. It doesn't show the splash screen on iOS even though i have the free edition. Android seems to show the old one and ignore the new settings.
Hm. I have the "Show Unity splash screen" box unticked, and it still shows it.
Yeah $$anonymous$$e doesn't show on iOS with the box checked or unchecked. Is your iOS splash screen the new one or old?
On iOS is the one that says Personal, but on Android it's the one you posted above.
Ah ok so android seems good. I wonder why iOS isn't showing it at all :(
