Looking for a transparent shader
I am looking for something I would have thought to be rather basic and yet I can't find it in Unity and my shader writing skills don't allow me to create it myself so can anyone please point me to a free shader that allows you to draw double sided semi transparent objects?
Please?
I am trying to create special effects that swirl around a character but instead of creating a mesh with 5000 triangles and creating loads of spikes I am trying to load a simple tube but use a texture that goes from fully opaque to fully transparent from bottom to top, respectively but with some extra spunk added in the middle. I want the player to see the effect surrounding the player (double sided) but to actually SEE the effect I need it transparent...
The problem with the transparent shaders I have seen so far is that they simply don't draw the front faces (???) when both front and back faces have transparency... Obviously having the front facing faces simply disappear is no good so does anyone know of a proper shader, please?
Thanks in advance
I'm not sure what are you trying to do. But if you looking for Unity transparent shader, create a material in project taband select Shader -> Transparent/...
As I stated in my question, the Unity transparent shaders do not work. Which is why I am asking for an alternative :(
As for what I am trying to do, as stated above, I want to swirl a semi transparent image around an object. Look at the image I am including. This is two shapes rotating around the character. There is a tube in the middle and then another shape a little further out. All the faces from the outer shape are being deleted so the tube in the middle can be shown ins$$anonymous$$d...
Plus, this shader is not double sided... so no, the Unity shaders are no good for this effect... :(
In the second image I use another shader and you can see the double sided effect and the correct depth sorting and the faces are not being culled incorrectly, but this is a transparent-cutout shader so in this case the faces are 100% opaque until they get cut... I need the faces to have transparency... not be cut off like this...
Unity's version... The other shader...
I get what you mean now... Well, I can't help with this, $$anonymous$$inda advanced thing.
