Amnesia/Skyrim Style Notes

Hi there,

I'm working on a university project and I'd really like to create a system whereby I can click on an object, perhaps a piece of paper, and have it bring up a JPG texture which fills the page containing story, maps, hints etc.

Much like in games such as 'Amnesia: The Dark Decent' and 'Skyrim'.

I haven't the first idea how to do this, are there any pre-existing scripts that I might be able to work from?
