Question by MOLB · Jan 28, 2012 at 06:48 PM · texturematerialmodelfbx

Texture not woking with any FBX model imported from Blender.

Hi

I have tried many different things to fix this. But nothing helps. When I use a texture on any kind of Unity "model" like a cube, then the texture works. But when I apply it to a imported FBX model, then it don't work. I use Blender and I use default import settings (my animations are not default). Could I change something other than animations? When applied to the FBX model, it will only change color. Basicly it looks like someone took the most used color of the texture and that color is what you can see on the model. I really need help with this.

So you use the "export as fbx" while in blender? Is this your 1st time importing from blender to unity? Which blender version? 2.61 , 2.49 ? Have you looked at the materials of your object after the import? I like to import my textures 1st then the model.

I have imported $$anonymous$$ANY models from Blender to Unity. I am importing the textures first and then the model. I use the newest Blender version. I am using "Export as Autodesk FBX".

first when you say textures do you mean that you use UV mapping to map them on the object? If not i would try mapping them on the object then exporting. If that doesn't work try instead of UV mapping the object you can try Project from View to map the object. IF none else works, try saving the texture directly into the Unity Project folder, and export the .fbx directly into the Unity3D project folder. Hope it helps!

Sounds like you need to UV unwrap the objects your exporting.. Open up the UV map section in Blender.. go to material assigned, then click the texture tab. Where you can choose the type, choose image or movie, also down from there under mapping change the map type to uv.. Go to you model, select everything with the "A" key in edit mode. Hit "U" try either smart uv unwrap or cube projection for most things these work well! Then go File
