Black boxes over text, 2D images not appearing right
no error message is displayed, and the player seems to think it is running fine, but text and 2D images are not appearing, and have either black or grey boxes over them
any help would be appreciated
+1, this is affecting a couple of our users and I never found out what was the deal with that. It's specific to a very small % of computers, so I suspect video driver shenanigans, but I'd like to know more.
I am not sure if this is the case but some graphics cards doesn't support non-power-of-2 textures. I don't know how unity handles this internally but check if those cards handle textures with arbitrary formats. Can you ask one of your clients to try a simple reproducible where you only have one 2d image on screen. Then try having one 2d image that is a power of 2.
I have the same problem and I would really like to learn how to fix it. I have played games like fusion fall and dead frontier. They all have the same problem.
